Friday Quick Hits and Varia

It’s the final Friday of spring break and it feels like it came just a bit too quickly! I have some reading that I wanted to get done and I had hoped to get out of the house a bit more, but it is what it is (and I do have a couple more days to enjoy break before the final push of the semester begins).

This weekend is dominated by the NCAA mens basketball tournament. Since none of my teams made it and I didn’t follow college basketball much this year, I’m only keeping one eye on the games, but I have enjoyed what I’ve seen this year so far. The F1 guys are in Jeddah this weekend for a race at lunchtime on Sunday in the US. The NASCAR guys are in Atlanta for pack racing complements of the new aero package and the re-contoured Atlanta speedway. Australia is playing some limited overs games in India.

More important than the sporting news is that the 2023 CHAT meeting call for papers has dropped! It’s the 20th anniversary of CHAT’s founding and the meeting will happen in Patras, Greece in early November! Here’s a link to the CFP. Special note to my Greek archaeology friends is that we’re encouraging submission on “historical and contemporary archaeology in the Mediterranean” and hope to have at least one panel on the archaeology of Early Modern and contemporary Greece.
